The aim of Contemplative Practice Yoga® classes is to teach you how to decrease tensions in your body thereby reducing pain. We also teach you have greater ease in movement. Over the course of taking classes you will learn how to create a daily practice of your own, so that you may do yoga when you cannot attend class. You will also learn how to sit, stand, and move while creating as little tension as possible in your body. This will give you a whole new way of being in your body and in your life — a life with less tension in your body, ease of movement, and calmness of mind.
We also offer Contemplative Flow ™ yoga classes.
Contemplative Practice™ Flow classes are designed for the cultivation of a continuing flow of easy movement. These classes are for those with some familiarity with the basic poses of Contemplative Practice Yoga®.
Every movement begins in stillness. By cultivating our awareness of this stillness and its expression as movement we learn to move with greater ease. Our ability to maintain awareness of this still point in our bodies and activities is a process which occurs as the tensions in our bodies fall away. This state of ease and tranquility, with practice, becomes firmly established.
The poses are sequenced physically, spatially, and temporally to give access to the stillness as you move in silence, or with minimal instruction, in a steady flow of poses and pauses throughout the class.
“. . . the still point of the turning world . . . except for the point, the still point, there would be no dance, and there is only the dance.”
